Field of study Computer Engineering

The Computer Science major offers you the option to specialize further in the field of general computer science.

The organizational interlocking in the joint degree course allows you to switch easily between the two fields in the first year of study - ideal if you are not quite sure which direction suits you best.

The modules in Computer Engineering are divided into three compulsory blocks: Advanced Foundations of Computer Engineering, Advanced Mathematical Foundations and Information Technology, as well as a compulsory elective block in Information Technology.

The compulsory blocks Advanced Foundations of Computer Engineering and Information Technology comprise the following modules:

  • Computer Networks and Distributed Systems
  • Logic and Verification
  • Embedded systems
  • Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence
  • Hybrid systems
  • Fundamentals of electrical engineering
  • Electronics practical course
  • Signals and systems and
  • Fundamentals of communications engineering

In addition, we offer our students the opportunity to acquire industry-recognized certificates in software development and enterprise resource planning (SAP) during their studies.

Job profile and labor market

Graduates of computer science courses are offered employment opportunities in public and private research institutions as well as project managers in software development. They assume responsibility for the development, procurement and adaptation of hardware and software to solve specific problems or analyze, design and develop new processes, algorithms and information systems for trade and industry. Consulting activities for companies and the education and training of users are also possible areas of employment.
