Technical Business Administration (Master)

Business decisions are often characterized by a close link between business management and engineering issues. In the Master's degree course in Technical Business Administration, our students develop skills at the interface between the commercial and the chosen technical field by specializing in a non-economic specialization. This specific qualification enables Clausthal business economists to make technically sound management decisions later in their careers.

Job profile and labor market

With the internationally recognized Master's degree, graduates have access to numerous fields of activity in national and international companies as well as the opportunity to take up academic work at university institutions. The course is aimed specifically at those interested in specializing in a technical field of expertise. Students are introduced to current research issues in the fields of economics and engineering. The aim is to enable them to make goal-oriented decisions in technical and economic borderline areas. With the degree obtained at Clausthal University of Technology, graduates position themselves on the job market between the industrial engineer or industrial mathematician and the classic business economist, depending on their chosen specialization. They are qualified to take on management positions, particularly in technically oriented companies.

  • Raw materials and process engineering industry,
  • energy industry,
  • recycling industry,
  • insurance industry,
  • automotive industry and in particular
  • management consultancies

What makes the degree program in Clausthal special

The special feature of the Master's degree course in Technical Business Administration is the combination of in-depth economics courses with an individual technical specialization by choosing one of the six technical fields of study: manufacturing, energy management, sustainability and recycling management, raw materials extraction, modelling and simulation or digital management. The six fields of study represent the central research fields and strengths of Clausthal University of Technology and at the same time introduce students to current research issues in industry. The course is also characterized by close supervision of students, high teaching quality and a high level of internationality.

Structure of the study program

The range of subjects includes in-depth economics courses (project and resource management, international corporate management, market processes), technical and economic interface modules (logistics and supply chain management, quality management) and a business simulation. Opportunities for individual profile development are offered by the compulsory elective program in economics with a wide range of options in the areas of business administration and economics as well as seminars. Individual technical specialization is achieved by choosing one of the six technical fields of study: manufacturing, energy management, sustainability and recycling management, raw materials extraction, modelling and simulation or digital management.
