Job profile and labor market

A Bachelor's degree in Digital Management will open up numerous career opportunities for you. You will be familiar with the world of business management, but also know the basics of computer science and can therefore contribute to interdisciplinary project teams. These can be, for example:

  • Chief Digital Officers (CDO) are managers in leadership positions who drive a high degree of digitalization in a company. They deal with digital topics and contribute to constant entrepreneurial change within the company. The field of work is diverse and interdisciplinary. They understand digital technologies, but also have to deal with people from a wide range of disciplines.
  • Digital Process Managers (DPM) are usually located at a middle management level in a company. For example, they can design, change and monitor processes within the company. In doing so, they focus on digital aspects such as the computer-aided automation of activities in business processes, i.e. in standardized procedures in the management and administration of the company. When improving business processes, they work together with colleagues from various areas of the company.
  • Customer experience specialists (CES) design the intermedia interaction between customers and companies on websites and in virtual environments. As with a shopping experience in the real world, e.g. at IKEA, there are many points of contact here that they work out and design for a customer-optimized experience. As previous interactions such as recorded conversations and surfing traces are particularly relevant for this, this is especially interesting for those who like to work analytically.

Structure of the study program

In the first two semesters, everything revolves around mathematics, computer science and business administration - in other words, the basics you will need later on. But don't worry, it's not just about dry theory! Right at the start of your Bachelor's degree, there is an "interdisciplinary first semester project" where you can gain your first practical experience in the field of economics together with other students. From the third semester onwards, you will have the opportunity to specialize in business informatics, big data and business administration. In the fifth semester, you can specialize further with a total of 12 credit points in two compulsory elective areas: data science (computer science) and profile building (economics). This means you can choose exactly the topics that interest you the most and that best suit your goals. The course usually lasts 6 semesters. But before you graduate, your Bachelor's thesis awaits you in the 6th semester, which you write either at one of the institutes at Clausthal University of Technology or in collaboration with a company. This gives you the opportunity to prove yourself in a specific project and gain valuable experience.
