Business / Technomathematics * (Master)

Studying in Clausthal

The importance of mathematics for business and science has increased significantly in recent decades, but at the same time the requirements profile for mathematicians has also changed. The successful processing of challenging application problems requires both the mastery of a broad spectrum of mathematical methods and the ability to collaborate with scientists from other disciplines. At the same time, mathematicians must be able to implement their ideas on the computer using the latest computer science methods.

Fields of study

The Business / Industrial Mathematics degree program offers you the opportunity to choose between the following fields of study:

Technomathematics

Business mathematics

Structure of the study program

In the first three semesters, you choose six courses from the sub-areas of applied mathematics: numerical mathematics, mathematical modelling, scientific computing, optimization, stochastics and statistics, as well as courses from computer science and engineering. This allows you to tailor your studies to your interests. Our academic advisor will be happy to help you choose the right courses. In the third semester, you can apply and test your knowledge in an interdisciplinary internship with an associated seminar. This prepares you optimally for the final Master's thesis in the last semester and your future career.

Part-time study

The Master's degree program in Business / Industrial Mathematics can also be studied part-time. Further details on the requirements, structure and legal consequences of part-time study can be found in the "Regulations governing part-time study (TzO)" of Clausthal University of Technology in the currently valid version.

Before applying for and taking up part-time studies, a consultation with the responsible part-time study coordinator is mandatory. During this consultation, the part-time study coordinator will agree on an individual study plan (learning agreement) for the part-time study program in consultation with the student.
